Before planning your trip to Canada, make sure you meet the requirements to be allowed to travel to Canada. Have a close look at the \u201cTravelling to Canada and clearing Canadian customs<\/a>\u201d page to get all the information you need for your trip to Canada.[\/boite_bleue]<\/p>\n

We encourage you to take a look at the information regarding entering Canada by air and land during COVID-19<\/a>\u00a0as well as the\u00a0checklists for requirements and exemptions<\/a>.<\/div>\n

We recommend you plan to arrive a minimum of 1 to 2 weeks before classes start<\/strong>. These days before the start of your academic semester will give you time to complete the administrative steps required to begin your studies.<\/p>\n

You must also make sure that you have health and hospitalization insurance that will cover you as soon as you arrive in Qu\u00e9bec. The health and hospitalization insurance plan for international students<\/a>\u00a0comes into effect halfway through the month before the start of classes, i.e. August 15 for the fall session, December 15 for the winter session and April 15 for the summer session.<\/p>\n

For those who have a reciprocal agreement with the R\u00e9gie d’assurance maladie du Qu\u00e9bec<\/a>, your coverage will take effect as soon as you arrive in Qu\u00e9bec, at the earliest one month before the beginning of the session, according to the date indicated on your registration certificate available in monPortail<\/a> (French only).<\/p>\n

Don’t forget that, in this case, you’ll need to take out a private insurance<\/a> before the health and hospitalization insurance plan for international students of Universit\u00e9 Laval comes into effect, since you’ll need to be insured at all times.<\/p>\n

If you need to find a place to live when you arrive in Qu\u00e9bec City, we suggest you allow 3 to 5 additional days<\/strong> for your search.<\/p>\n
